HVAC Technicians program will prepare trainees for career opportunities in HVAC industry. It covers the basic principles of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning. The program will prepare trainees with knowledge and skills required to install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. It also covers appropriate troubleshooting techniques and safe work procedures when working with HVAC systems.
Trainees will have knowledge and skills required to identify composition and usage of HVAC materials, equipment, and tools required for installation and diagnostic tasks
Recognize safety procedures and identify technical drawings and diagrams, specification charts required for installation and repair of HVAC systems
Trainees will know procedures for installing, inspecting, testing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems
Obtain the required English, Math, and Clerical skills necessary for the work environment
Analyse, interpret, modify and prepare drawings, layouts, and reports, with guidance as required
Analyse and solve routine technical problems related to HVAC by applying fundamental concepts of mathematics and science
Apply appropriate troubleshooting techniques to HVAC systems and perform test procedures
Assemble, modify, test, and troubleshoot control circuits, equipment, and HVAC systems in accordance with job requirements, functional specifications, and relevant standards, with guidance as required
Test & Troubleshoot HVAC systems in accordance with relevant operational guidelines
Provide justification for the purchase of relevant equipment, components, and systems in accordance with code, standards, and job requirements, and functional specifications
Knowledge of window and split AC unit components and spare parts
Knowledge of refrigeration components and spare parts
Knowledge of heating components and spare parts
Able to trouble shoot HVAC systems to locate and rectify mechanical, electrical, and instrumental faults
Able to repair HVAC units, and provide maintenance
Able to assist other technicians to trouble shoot and repair bigger units
